Analog Inputs

General Usage

Analog inputs can be used eg. for:

  • yoke / aileron
  • control column / elevator
  • rudder pedals
  • toe brakes
  • multi-engine throttle levers
  • reverser levers
  • nose gear steering tiller
  • panel brightness control
  • instrument brightness control
  • ...

PHCC Analog Input Channels

Features

  • integrated on the PHCC motherboard
  • 35 analog-in channels
    • 3 of them priority (scanned 15 times more often than the other 32)
      • well suited for aileron, elevator, and rudder control
  • measures voltage, not current (like gameports)
  • jitter reduction algorithm smoothes out spikes in input
  • scan rate: TBD.
  • PHCC host control program can configure each channel individually:
    • to relay it to a kernel joystick driver
      • this allows all applications to use PHCC inputs as joystick axes
    • to use it internally, eg.
      • to control brightness of your backlighting
      • to map to some floating point number within flightgear, eg. spoilers
  • mechanical connection: pinheader with 3 pins.
  • compatible with potentiomenters from < 1kOhm to 100kOhm
  • can be used with LVDTs (LVDT signal conditioning circuit necessary)
  • several other sensor types work as well
